Ahh crap. I missed out on posting this yesterday. On one hand, better late than never, right? But I’m still pissed that I broke my streak. Clearly returning to work after three days at home does not agree with me. Excuses and whining aside, let’s talk about my no buy.
The no buy that I am now SERIOUSLY CURSING (STEFFFFFF!). But I won’t give up. I am strong and I can do this. I can. I CAN, I TELL YOU. Why doesn’t anyone believe me? So are any of you on August no buys as well? I know some of you were considering it, but did any of you actually take the plunge? Are there certain things that you will break your no buy for? Would you consider my no buy failed if a HTF vintage lemming from my Top 10 I hope to find in 2011 list magically appeared at a good price and I caved? These are the important questions.
Sorry about the long intro. Back to the good stuff.
Very rarely do I venture into a Gloss store, but I just so happened to be in the area on the weekend so I decided to pop in and see if anything took my fancy. A few months back, the most rad Director Dave from Fashion Addict showed us a few pics on twitter of a couple of amazing upcoming BYS shades which I fell in love with immediately. They aren’t up on FA yet, so I was super pleased to find both Drop in the Ocean and Reign Supreme on the shelf in the store, ready to be purchased and adored by me.
Drop in the Ocean is one of those lovely bright teal shades that just refuses to be photographed correctly. It’s much more green IRL than what I can see on my monitor but I just can’t seem to capture that. You HAVE to see this in person. Think BYS Dark Teal, but brighter and more opaque. This one is a winner. Super pigmented and dried glossy with two coats.
Reign Supreme can only be described as the perfect Cadbury purple. I love this. It’s darker than both RBL Mismas and ChG Grape Pop and much like Drop in the Ocean, the formula is amazing. Honestly guys – I can’t rave enough about how the quality of BYS polishes has gone through the roof in the last few years, while the price manages to stay super low. This was two wonderful creamy coats and if you have access to this line, please pick this one up. You won’t regret it.
Because I felt like it, and because they were sitting on my desk, I topped these two with Kleancolor Chunky Holo Teal & Chunky Holo Bluebell respectively and I think they look AMAZING, especially Bluebell!
Check out that colour shift!
BYS polishes can be purchased online from Fashion Addict or in person from Gloss stores in NSW and KMart Australia wide. The regular line retails for $3.95 each while the glitters are $4.95. Cheap as chips for something that looks this good. I look forward to seeing what BYS bring to the table next!
