Dupe Posts Day 2: China Glaze Greens

Pretty Random Dupe Week

Sorry guys! I’m a day late with this post. I’m suffering from a bit of a flu (you’ll notice my hands are a bit redder in my swatches) Don’t worry though, I still have five posts planned for the week, they’ll just have to run through to Saturday instead of Friday like usual.

On Monday I mentioned placing a Cherry Culture order, and along with the Jordana’s & Milani’s I picked up a few NYX Girls polishes. The NYX Girls line has recently been revamped with new bottles and a whole bunch of new colours. Among the colours that I picked up, was a green shade by the name of Luscious Green. When it arrived there was no mistaking that it may very well be a dupe for China Glaze’s much sought after Moonpool.

As you can see from the pics, they aren’t totally identical, but if you can’t find Moonpool, or it’s out of your price range, NYX Girls Luscious Green can’t be passed up for only $3.00. It’s definitely close enough to quash a Moonpool lemming. It should also be noted that NYX Girls Algae is very close to Misa Dirty Sexy Money.

This next comparison will probably be a lot more helpful to Aussie girls, as the Petit Ange range is only sold in the Asia Pacific region as far as I know. These two came to my attention as possible dupes when my friend Emma arrived at my house with startling neon green nails. I knew Em had been looking for Limonyte, and from the look of her nails I assumed she had found it. Em then imformed me that she had picked up the colour at a small nail kiosk at the very shopping center we were heading out to visit. I picked up this green (along with two others) for $10.

These two are REALLY close, the only difference being that the golden shimmer in Limonyte is a little bit more yellow. Other than that, these two look pretty much the same. Petit Ange (this brand also comes in bottles labelled Eclipse) are Korean in origin and are sold at Morning Glory stores. For NSW girls, this particular bottle came from a small kiosk at Parramatta Westfields. Unless they have moved, you can find them on Level 2, just outside the Myer entrance. I picked up a bunch of Eclipse/Petit Ange that day, including a buttery yellow that reminded me a lot of Essie Barbuda Banana and a medium Green Creme that is a dead on match for Nubar Forest. These polishes are cheap and well worth tracking down if you live in Australia. They also have no names or numbers, so you’ll have to go by bottle colour. Another good and readily available green that is a good replacement for Limonyte is Misa’s Go On Green from the Look On The Bright Side collection.

This next one is one of my favourite China Glaze polishes. Turned Up Turquoise is from the same collection as Limonyte so sadly has also been discontinued. But for ages it has been stated on MUA that Misa’s The Grass Is Greener On My Side is a dupe. These two polishes weren’t too far apart in terms of release, and I have both, so I decided to put that theory to the test.

They certainly aren’t dupes, but they are in the same colour family. The Misa is definitely a lot more green than TuT. I threw in Mode Party Girl on the end there, but that isn’t really identical to either. Even though they aren’t identical, I think that Misa’s Grass Is Greener is a viable substitute for Turned Up Turquoise, seeing as the Misa is still readily available (and selling on Head2Toe for $3.00). And also, if you’re in my neck of the woods, Mode polishes are $2.25 a pop and Party Girl is close, but a little darker than these two. The Mode formula is also a lot more pigmented. That’s two coats on the pinky versus the three coats on the other nails.

Also in regards to Mode vs Misa, I have found that Mode XOXO is very close to Misa Girls Night Out.

That’s all for today guys, I hope you are enjoying these dupe posts. It looks like Glitter is in the lead for next week, so if you haven’t voted in my poll, please do so!

Nice color choices. I prefer the CG only on the first one, though.

I don't know if it's cosmic irony, or just serendipity, that you're running/posting Dupe Week the same time that this happens…

Dupes exist – nail polish colors, eye shadow shades, lip stick hues…dupes exist. Where they exist, we'll point them out.
