Bottle Spam Sunday & Link Love

Firstly, I just want to say thank you to all of you for your wonderful supportive comments and well wishes on my last post. I’m so grateful for all of you, and I’m going to do my absolute best to make sure that my polishes and makeup are available worldwide. I’ll keep you all updated on my progress via Pretty Random, but you can also follow Pretty Serious on Twitter or Facebook. For Bottle Spam Sunday today, I thought I’d fish back through my twitter for some discontinued goodies. Enjoy! Covergirl Crackles in Smashed Pumpkin, Electric Shock & Fire Crackle [...]

Last Chance On These Bloom Shades

Don’t you just hate it when the good things get discontinued? Pepsi Blue… Jungle Curry Kettle Chips… Clarins 230… Parker Lewis Can’t Lose… Now to add to that prestigious list – Bloom Jessica Mauboy I & II. *CRY* Yep, I have it on authority from a sales rep at the flagship store that the Jessica Mauboy designer shades have been discontinued. At present, Jessica Mauboy II (Green) seems to still be available for purchase on the Bloom Website, but JM I is indeed goneski. I managed to pick up a bottle for a friend in a Myer store discounted from [...]

Saturday Swatch Party

Since last week was such a rousing success (and also because my nails are still looking most craptacular), I’ve decided to dig down deep into the depths of my flickr for some more swatches for this weeks post. Hopefully I’ll have some new stuff for you next week, but knowing my luck I’ll lose my hand in a freak accident involving a wind up monkey and a meat cleaver. In the event of which, I leave my helmers to Emma. Urban Decay Big Bang, Versace 82145 Nubar Gold Leaf, Max Factor Midnight Aqua Bloom Mena, Essie Night Cap (over Zoya [...]

Top 10 of 2010 Part 2

I don’t know about you guys, but the holiday season always seems to leave me feeling like a ginormous blob. All the eating of fabulous, fattening food, running around visiting family and friends, shopping, baking, wrapping, laughing, drinking… It’s a ton of fun, but it really is a lot to cram into a two week period. So here we are, the 2nd of January. I sit here contemplating taking down my Christmas tree and working off all the weight I have no doubt put on since the first glass of Egg Nog was thrust upon me last year. But let’s [...]

My Favourite Reds

A nasty break has prevented me from swatching any more this week, so I haven’t been able to prepare any more dupe posts. But I do feel like posting so I thought I would go back through my flickr and pick out some old swatches to share. I’ve found myself really into the classic beauty of a good red lately. I bought a really cheap Face of Australia polish called Sold Out (no swatch yet) and it is the perfect pinup red. I used to hate cremes with a passion – I think that’s because they are a lot more [...]

I Had No Idea It Was Earth Day, But Here’s My 8 Fave Greens

Either I’m totally ignorant or its a case of Earth Day Marketing Fail, because I seriously didn’t have a clue. I don’t have any polish on right now, so I guess that’s kinda green? I had a bubble mailer arrive the other day with a casualty enclosed (Sally Hansen Wild Frost for those interested. Purple and irreplaceable. Me = Bummed.) and whilst I cleaned the other items of the blood of their fallen comrade, I stripped off my Illamasqua Muse mani in the process. Sadly, the desire to paint again has not surfaced. Partially because I’ve been going to bed [...]

I’m really bummed this polish is named after an Australian Idol contestant. I’m not really a fan of pop music to put it lightly, and I really don’t like musicians who make their name through a talent quest, but I must remember that this isn’t a post about the fickle nature of the recording industry… we be talking bout the polish, yo. But since I don’t like Jessica Mauboy I will re-christen this polish Bloom Awesomesauce. Let us continue. Bloom Awesomesauce applied like a dream (as most Blooms do). This is an older swatch because my nails look like doody [...]
