I’m not gonna lie, picking out my most prized polish was HARD. I probably couldn’t even narrow it down to a helmer drawer. 80% of my stash falls into my ‘most prized’ category and I would be categorically fucked if my house caught fire. So in the end I decided to pick out something super cool, rare and frankly, kind of strange that I even own.
Ladies and gents, meet Louis Vuitton Gold.
I can’t even remember how this polish got on my radar. I saw a swatch, somewhere, somehow and it went on the ol’ wishlist. It was June 2009 and I was heavily into shopping Japanese Auctions at the time (hello wallet drain!) and I happened to come across a loose bottle at an incredible price.
You see, this Louis Vuitton polish and others like it are part of a very luxurious set. These duos were given as gifts to large scale Louis Vuitton customers in Japan – ie you gotta drop a lot of bank to have these bestowed upon you by the LV gods.
The formula is as expected for such a high end polish. Dreamy. It’s thin without being watery and the gold shimmer is pretty complex with a really interesting sparkle. It has the slightest olive lean but definitely nothing strong. I have a feeling it’s close to MAC Mercenary, but my I’m downstairs and my helmers are upstairs and yeah LAZY.
