I know it.
I have a whole pile of polishes that look exactly like this one. I can’t help it. I must own ALL the Night Sky polishes. A few years ago, I put together a Night Sky polish comparison post, which I probably need to update because since then I have picked up quite a few more, the latest being this stunning vintage Dior 979 – Sparkling Blueberry.
What’s the fascination? It’s just silver glitter in a navy jelly base. To be honest, I DON’T KNOW. But I love every last twinkly star-filled sky looking one of them.
In terms of quality, this polish is incredible. Especially considering its age. Inside the box (the perfect, completely undamaged box!) there was an instruction pamphlet, and the fine print at the bottom had the number 06/97 which sounds about right for the age – the same year as the wildly popular Chanel Ciel De Nuit. Of course, that could just be the year that the generic directions for use pamphlet were printed and I could be way off base here – but it makes sense. But like I said, the quality is AMAZING. This is 100% deadstock that has been hiding in a warehouse somewhere. This is vintage polish hunter GOLD.
As for a comparison to Ciel De Nuit, Sparkling Blueberry has a much richer navy base with less silver glitter. But that being said, it’s more than enough to quash any CdN lemming. (Or Essie SSN – I always find it funny that the Essie is so much more sought after than the Chanel original!)
If you think this fabulous shade needs to be in your Helmer/Storage of your choice then you’re in luck. I picked up mine very recently on eBay along with a bunch of other fabulous vintage Dior’s (including a backup of my half depleted incredible Marine Blueberry
) and you can find their store HERE
. They have lots of stock.
Aaaaand one more for the road. Gotta love those Night Sky polishes!
